Former Notre Dame star quarterback, DeShone Kizer, may not be too thrilled about heading to the Cleveland Browns.

Must Read: DeShone Kizer Selected by Cleveland Browns

Yes, the Cleveland Browns are where quarterbacks go to die. If you could name three of their starting quarterbacks over the last ten years, I’d be surprised. But DeShone Kizer shouldn’t be too upset about the progress Cleveland has made over the last year.

For starters, this team finally has a head coach. Hue Jackson is the biggest upgrade at coach Cleveland has had in years. Now, they’re in the middle of a very impressive NFL Draft and are looking to be on the rise for the first time in recent memory.

Even if Kizer is headed to Death Valley of play callers, his future is bright. He will join a receiving core of Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman will now be combined with tight ends Gary Barnidge and rookie, David Njoku, out of Miami.

The Browns are the dumpster fire of the past. They may be the worst team in the NFL, but they’re on the come up, and Kizer is headlining that turnaround. This is his team now. The future of this offense is now in his hands. For any quarterback, that’s everything they dream of whether it’s the New England Patriots or the Browns.

Kizer walks into the Browns with a chance to be a part of a rebuild. He’d much rather be in a franchise looking for a Super Bowl, but by the time he’s ready to lead a team in the playoffs, Cleveland could very well be ready for a run.

This isn’t a pick many people would be thrilled about. Heck, Twitter reaction alone shows how terrible it is to go to the Browns. But Kizer’s future isn’t over just because of a team. How his career turns out will still depend on him, and if he wants to be the Cam Newton-Tom Brady prototype he wants to be, he’ll need to put in work no matter where he is.

An NFL Draft pick is an NFL Draft pick. It’s the start of a new chapter wherever you land. No matter where you go, you aren’t handed anything. Your work ethic needs to be the same anywhere. So, when Kizer is trying to turn his career into something special he needs to put in the work.

Don’t ignore this Browns team. They made some moves in this year’s draft, and have a guy running the show who’s determined to turn Cleveland around.

Kizer may be headed somewhere terrifying. But he could change the destiny of the “quarterback killing” Cleveland Browns.
