Former Notre Dame football quarterback, Malik Zaire, is reportedly telling people he’s attending Florida next fall.

According to Alex Wilcox of WNDU-TV in South Bend, Malik Zaire may have made his transfer decision. The only problem; he’s supposedly telling people it’s to the University of Florida. The only school that isn’t allowed to accept him as a transfer.

Because Anthony Harrell and Mason Halter did not meet SEC academic requirements when they were attending Florida as grad transfers in 2015, Florida cannot accept more grad transfers for the next three years. While Zaire and Florida have been pushing for a change, nothing has been released on the university’s punishment.

With no true starting quarterback in Florida, the Gators may be the best fit for Zaire. As the former Music City Bowl MVP, Zaire has proven he’s worthy of starting in the NCAA and has one year left to prove himself to the college football world and NFL scouts.

Zaire was set to make a decision at the end of May, but has yet to release a statement on his future school. Florida is currently competing with Wisconsin, Texas and Harvard for Zaire’s transfer. With Wisconsin and Texas having young talents at quarterback and Harvard lacking television exposure, Florida is probably the best bet for the quarterback.

We should expect a decision from Zaire soon. While Florida continues to push for the SEC to change their punishment, Zaire will remain a free agent and the four competing schools will battle for his decision.
