Stanford

Between USC and Stanford, the two could be a toss up for who will be the toughest opponent. For the reason USC ends up being second, is the reason Stanford rounds out the top of this list.

The situation for this game just carries too much weight for it not to be the toughest. The Irish will be ending the regular season on the road for this one, at a place where Notre Dame hasn’t won since 2007.

You can’t look at Stanford and not mention the offensive line. In years past that’s been the cream of the crop for the Cardinal. Except for last season where the line struggled. So where does that leave them this year?

Last season we were talking about a young and inexperienced line, this season not so much. A little bit older with more games under their belts, the Cardinals will have a line that’s got depth. That means going to the next man up with fresh legs or incase of injury will be a lot easier for Stanford and not so much for their opponents.

All the pressure of the season will rest on this game. With no conference championship, the College Football Playoff hopes to lie on a near, if not perfect, season.
