Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Quick Look at 2017-2018 Roster
By Chase Eyrich
Even with the loss of V.J. Beachem and Steve Vasturia, fans of Notre Dame Men’s Basketball have a lot to be excited about with the roster for the 2017-2018 season.
The Ones You Can’t Ignore
They’ve all paid their dues and you can’t hide them. Up for ACC Player of the Year last season and now an early contestant for National Player of the Year, Bonzie Colson is back for his final season with the Irish.
Not only is Colson back for one more ride but it’s sounding like this summer he’s only been getting better. Invited to the Under Armour All-American Camp, Colson was grabbing everyone’s attention.
Also invited to the camp was Matt Farrell, who we saw just got better and better as the season went along. By the end of the season, Farrell looked to be hitting on all cylinders. Emerging into one of the most improved players in the nation last year, this season he has a chance to give Colson a run for team MVP.
Rex Pflueger was a huge asset on the defensive end last year. In the ACC tourney, Pflueger racked up 14 rebounds and four steals in the three game run to the Championship game.
Pflueger was one of the most trustworthy players last season with 11 consecutive games lasting 218 minutes without committing a turnover.
He’s going to add that extra grit the team will need to push them along with efficiency.
