Who pulls the trigger next and becomes the 17th commitment in the 2018 Notre Dame football recruiting class?

Notre Dame football recruiting jumped into high gear when the Irish landed Running Back Jahmir Smith, Linebacker Shayne Simon, Linebacker Jack Lamb and Wide Receiver Kevin Austin. Despite a 4-8 season and numerous coaching changes, the Irish staff managed to evaluate their game on the recruiting trail. According to 247Sports, Notre Dame sits at 8th in the recruiting team rankings. With a significant amount of momentum, who might climb abroad next?

Tommy Tremble – Tight End – Norcross, Georgia (Wesleyan School)

Notre Dame already holds a commitment from Tight End George Takacs. The Irish landed two Tight Ends in the 2017 class (Cole Kmet and Brock Wright) as well. However, that is not stopping the Irish staff from pursuing Tremble. As new Offensive Coordinator Chip Long showed during the “New & Gold” scrimmage, he likes to use two or three Tight Ends on the field at the same time. He even uses them in the backfield as a fullback. Georgia comprises the main competition for Tremble. The 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts that he will select the Irish.

Thomas Booker – Defensive End – Baltimore Maryland (Gilman)

Booker set up an official visit to South Bend for the Temple game. He has focused much of his attention on two great academic institutions, Notre Dame and Stanford. Notre Dame’s defensive front desperately needs a player of Booker’s caliber. If everything goes well on September 2nd, Notre Dame may have their 17th commitment.

Paul Moala – Safety – Mishawaka, Indiana (Penn)

Since Moala landed an offer during the Irish Invasion elite camp, many expected him to immediately pull the trigger and join the class. However, the local product did not immediately jump on board. Is Notre Dame slow playing him in hopes of landing another Safety? Or does the Penn High School really want to attend another school?

Off-the-board and headed elsewhere

North Central (IN) High School product DJ Johnson announced his college decision earlier this week. He selected Iowa over Notre Dame. Johnson worked out and received a scholarship at the Irish Invasion camp.
