Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly closed the book on Michigan State via teleconference on Sunday afternoon.

Notre Dame defeated Michigan State, 38-18, on Saturday night. Kelly answered questions for media on Sunday afternoon. Here is a quick update on the Notre Dame football team following Kelly’s comments:

Josh Adams’ Injury

Notre Dame Junior Running Back Josh Adams received an X-ray after feeling stiffness at halftime of last night’s game. The X-ray came back negative.

The Irish rarely used Notre Dame’s leading rusher for the rest of the evening. In fact, Redshirt Freshman Running Back Deon McIntosh carried the ball more than any Irish ball-carrier against Michigan State. McIntosh ran for 35 yards on 12 carries with 1 touchdown. Junior Running Back Dexter Williams also carried the ball on 8 occasions.

With a non-Power 5 team (Miami OH) coming to South Bend this week, do not expect Adams to play a lot. Adams likely starts against the Redhawks. However, the Irish will definitely work in Williams, McIntosh and, if healthy, Tony Jones Jr.

Brian Kelly: Tiny Dancer

If you have not seen the post-game celebration video of Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly dancing and celebrating with his players, do yourself a favor and go watch it immediately.

The Irish Head Coach explained his post-game celebration with his players during the teleconference. Kelly said, “I love my guys. They’re young. Sometimes we need to share that with them and be young.”

There is a lot to love about this Kelly. He is clearly trying to relate to his players. This is something he has been trying to do since he talked with them  at the conclusion of the 2016 season. There also is something about watching a nearly 56-year old man who is significantly smaller than his players (specifically Quenton Nelson) dance and celebrate along with them. This is pure fun. Pure joy.
