Notre Dame defeated Miami (OH) on a beautiful Saturday evening in South Bend, Indiana.

Here are three things we learned from Notre Dame’s victory over Miami (OH):

Brandon Wimbush is still inconsistent

Wimbush struggled again passing the ball on Saturday. After a decent performance against Michigan State, the Junior Quarterback completed 7 of 18 passes for 119 yards with 3 touchdowns. He made several excellent plays like the 54-yard touchdown pass to Miles Boykin late in the first half. If Notre Dame hopes to push into the College Football Playoff discussion or a possible New Year’s Six Bowl.

Notre Dame’s program culture has changed

Typically, this type of game has been a problem for Notre Dame. No, the Irish do not lose this game. They struggle to put a Group of 5 team away. Tonight, Notre Dame held a 45-17 lead at halftime.

This game marks a key distinction in the Notre Dame football program under Brian Kelly. The Irish flexed their muscles and showed they were able to play consistently week in and week out. Too many times, the Irish let the opponent stay in the game. This usually does not allow for Notre Dame to play younger, inexperienced players.

The Irish are facing a possible crisis at Running Back

At the end of the game, Notre Dame was down to Sophomore Running Back Deon McIntosh. He played well. He carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards and 1 touchdown. However, he cannot carry the ball and make lots of the plays for the rest of the year. Notre Dame will need the combination of Adams, Williams and Jones Jr. Adams most likely could have returned in the game. The health of the group is very important for the success of the Irish down the stretch.

The Notre Dame football program travels to Chapel Hill, North Carolina next week when they meet the Tar Heels. ABC or ESPN will have the broadcast at 3:30 p.m.
