Notre Dame Football: The Turning Point – Josh Adams’ 73-Yard TD Run
By Andrew Hall
The Notre Dame Football team turned the tide in their game against Miami (OH) when Josh Adams took the handoff and sprinted 73 yards for the touchdown.
Notre Dame defeated the Miami (OH) Redhawks, 52-17, on Saturday evening. The turning point may have been when the Irish entered the tunnel. However, they still needed to win the game and play well. Here is the turning point of Saturday’s contest:
The Turning Point: Adams 73-yard TD Run
On the first play of the game, Brandon Wimbush looked to go deep. Graduate transfer Wide Receiver Cam Smith ran a post route and blew past the Redhawk Safety. Wimbush did not have enough time to hit Smith. He was hit while trying to throw the ball, which caused the pass to be under thrown.

On the very next play, Notre Dame Junior Josh Adams sprinted his way to a 73-yard touchdown. Adams finished the game with 159 yards on 8 carries. After an awkward hit in the 1st Quarter, his carries were limited by the Notre Dame coaching staff. In a blowout, there was no sense in losing the starting Running Back for the rest of the season.
Experts, fans, players, coaches and maybe even Chuck Martin knew that Miami (OH) faced an uphill battle against Notre Dame. That became clearly apparent 25 seconds into the game. At that point, it was only inevitable that the Fighting Irish would stomp the Redhawks.
Honorable mention: Greer Martini interception
On Miami’s first drive, the Redhawk Quarterback Gus Ragland hit the Tight End on the a vertical route up the seam. He tried to hit another seam route on the other side of the field. Senior Linebacker Greer Martini would not have any of it. He tipped the ball to himself and made the interception. Martini then returned it 42 yards to the Miami 36-yard line. The Greer Martini interception turned into 7 points for the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame moves on to play North Carolina in Chapel Hill next week. The contest will be televised by either ESPN or ABC at 3:30 pm.
