Notre Dame defeated the Miami (OH) Redhawks on Saturday evening to move their record to 4-1 on the season.

The Irish offense exploded with 45 points in the first half. Despite dominating the first half, Brandon Wimbush and his teammates scuffed to only 7 points in the second half. This performance was solid but not entirely dominant. Here are the grades for the offense against Miami (OH):

. QB. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. BRANDON WIMBUSH. D+

Following Saturday’s game, Wimbush graded himself with a “C+”. His play did not even deserve that grade. Wimbush truly struggled to throw the ball against an inferior defense with lower level FBS talent. He did have impressive throws like the 54-yard pass to Junior Wide Receiver Miles Boykin. However, Wimbush also had atrocious throws like the screen pass which he chucked two yards behind the receiver and out of bounds. After an improved performance against the Spartans, he took a major step back against the Redhawks. This was only his 5th start. He will take a step forward next week against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Wimbush finished with 7 completions on 18 attempts for 119 yards with 3 touchdowns. He added 36 yards on 11 carries via the ground.

A. . Offense. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. RUNNING BACKS

Notre Dame Running Back Josh Adams exploded for 159 yards in the first half before suffering a minor injury. The Irish coaching staff decided that they had seen enough and pulled him in favor of Tony Jones Jr. Jones also suffered an injury when a Miami (OH) defender collided with him head-to-head. Garbage man Deon McIntosh came in to clean up the game for Notre Dame.

Adams’ averaged a ridiculous 19.9 yard average. Most likely, he would have kept it going if the coaches did not think it was better to rest him. Jones added 48 yards while McIntosh added 47 yards. Overall, the unit (including the Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers) rushed for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns.
