The Irish are considered to be in the conversation for the College Football Playoff if they win the remaining games on their schedule. This is definitely a tall task for the Notre Dame football team.

The Irish have suffered one loss this season, which came by the hands of Georgia. Besides for that loss, Notre Dame has blown out every single opponent. Notre Dame is rolling but that sole loss will hang over the Irish like a dark cloud for the rest of the season.

While that cloud will remain it might not be as dark as we once thought. That one loss is starting to look extremely good for Notre Dame. Georgia has been climbing the AP Top 25 since Week 1. Now cracking the top 5, the Bulldogs are currently 4th in the most recent poll.

The one point loss to the Bulldogs in Week 2 demonstrates that the Irish are the toughest opponent Georgia has faced. In fact, against all other opponents, Georgia has averaged 38 points per game. The Irish held them to nearly half that.

What’s even more impressive is the point differential. Georgia has won each of their other games by 21, 28, 28, 41, and 31 points respectively. Just like Notre Dame, they have rolled over all other competition.

The argument is becoming clearer for the Irish to be able to work their way to a College Football Playoff birth. But, the road to Atlanta might be one of the hardest and bumpiest from South Bend.
