Prior to Notre Dame’s second big home matchup, Brian Kelly met with the media on Tuesday. He touched the healthy of his team as well as the upcoming opponent, USC.

Brandon Wimbush 100%

Against North Carolina, Notre Dame started Redshirt Freshman Ian Book. Book played well enough for the Notre Dame football team to coast to its fifth victory of the season. However, he truly showed that the calls for him as starter were premature. Wimbush deserves to be the starting Quarterback. According to Brian Kelly, he is prepared to start and is 100% healthy. Kelly said, “No questions about his health. He’s 100 percent.” He adds an element to the running game that few Quarterbacks in college football can.

More Kevin Stepherson

More from Slap the Sign

The Irish Head Coach said that Sophomore Kevin Stepherson will factor into the rotation more than he has in the previous six games. His addition to the offense could be a huge help for Equanimeous St. Brown and Brandon Wimbush. Stepherson brings a deep threat to the offense that it is currently lacking. Teams have kept a Safety over the top of St. Brown and dare one of the other Irish Wide Receivers to beat them.

Taylor Out For Season, Martini Questionable

Junior Defensive Linemen Elijah Taylor is out for the season. Taylor, who injured his ankle in spring practice, hoped to return this season. However, with Notre Dame’s interior linemen playing well, it is best that he take a full year to recover before returning 2018.

Notre Dame starting Linebacker Greer Martini is questionable with an injury suffered recently in practice. At the Buck Linebacker spot, Martini is likely replaced by Junior Te’von Coney. Although Coney does not start, he is currently second on the team in tackles with 42 total stops. He is only 2 tackles behind the leader Middle Linebacker Myles Morgan. With Martini possibly out, Coney should acquit himself well.
