Notre Dame announced a third exhibition game this Friday with proceeds going to hurricane relief.

Yesterday, the Notre Dame basketball program added a third exhibition game. This exhibition opener is a contest played against the cross-campus opponent, Holy Cross College.

This Friday, Oct, at 7 p.m. ET in Purcell Pavillion the two schools will face each other with donations going to support relief efforts after a series of hurricanes have affected Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.

The idea was brought about by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the NCAA approved waivers to make it happen. Mike Brey said, “As soon as the NABC discussed this opportunity, I knew it was something that we needed to do.”

Proceeds will go to Alliance For Catholic Education (ACE). The program founded in 1993 will use the proceeds to support St. Catherine of Siena, a Catholic elementary. The Texas elementary suffered extensive damage with many repairs needed.

This is a non-ticketed exhibition game and free to attend. Details to be announced by the university later this week on the collection of donations.

Busy week on campus

This will add to an already busy week on campus. On Friday, the No. 7 Men’s Soccer team will be taking on Duke. In the Compton Family Ice Center, the No. 5 Hockey squad will host Sacred Heart for the second night in a row.

And of course, it’s USC week for the No. 13 Fighting Irish football team. The pep rally, held Friday night, will get fans, students, and alumni ready for the Saturday night rivalry.

Even with everything going on around campus and the fact that all three sports competing are ranked top-15 nationally, there are a lot of high expectations for the the Notre Dame basketball team. After finishing last season 26-10 and making the ACC tournament championship for the second time in three years, you might see why.
