Since losing to Georgia, Notre Dame has dominated every single team in front of them. The Fighting Irish have beaten teams by an average of 27 points per contest. This includes three teams ranked in the AP Top 25.

On Tuesday, the first College Football Playoff rankings are revealed. Where will the Notre Dame football land in this group?

The Unbeaten

Currently, there are four Power 5 teams that remain undefeated. Two, Alabama and Georgia, are a lock to be ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the upcoming poll. Both teams have been dominant enough. It could be argued that Georgia has the better resume with a win over Notre Dame.

The other two unbeaten teams are Wisconsin and Miami (FL). Both teams have stayed unbeaten by the skin of their teeth. Although these are definitely quality teams, they do not deserve to be ranked in the Top 4 of the playoff rankings.

One-Loss Teams

There are a bunch of quality one-loss teams left in the country. Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Penn State, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Washington.

Notre Dame probably holds the best resume of any of the one-loss teams. Notre Dame has victories against Michigan State, USC and NC State, all ranked inside the AP Top 25. Their loss came against No. 2 Georgia by 1-point.

Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma also have solid resumes. The Buckeyes defeated Penn State on Saturday. However, they do have a loss against Oklahoma. In Ohio State’s favor, Oklahoma is ranked inside the Top 10. However, the game was not very competitive. Aside from the win against the Nittany Lions, the Buckeyes have not beaten a solid team.

Clemson may have an argument to be the best one-loss team. The Tigers defeated Auburn and Virginia Tech, both teams rank in the Top 20 of the country. Their loss came to Syracuse in Carrier Dome with their starting Quarterback injured.

Oklahoma might have the best win of the one-loss teams. The Sooners went into Columbus and blasted the Buckeyes.
