The Notre Dame football team looks to avoid a letdown after two emotional games. The Irish take on Wake Forest today at Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame looks to prove that they are deserving of their No. 3 rankings.

Notre Dame Offense vs. Wake Forest Defense

Can the Demon Deacons create enough negative plays to slow the Irish? Wake Forest leads the country in tackles for loss. If they can force the Irish into 2nd and long, they may be able to force Quarterback Brandon Wimbush to throw more than he wants.

In reality, the Demon Deacons rank 88th in nation in rushing defense. The Irish have destroyed much better rushing defenses. This is bad news for Wake Forest. The Irish should be able to control the game with their Offensive Line once again.

The loss of Jessie Bates is critical for Demon Deacons.

Notre Dame Defense vs. Wake Forest Offense

Like the Wake Forest defense, they are missing their top playmaker. Freshman Wide Receiver Greg Dortch. Dortch caught 53 passes for 722 yards with 9 touchdowns. His loss is critical.

Slowing the Irish offense down means keeping your offense on the field. Wake Forest will attempt to shorten the game by running the ball and keeping the clock running.

Senior Quarterback John Wolford will need to have a flawless game for the Demon Deacons to have a chance. He has been extremely efficient, completing about 65% of his passes for 1660 yards. His touchdown to interception ratio stands at 15 to 2.

Prediction

Dave Clawson will bring a well-coached Wake Forest team that will fight to the last minute. However, with their injuries, the Demon Deacons are completely overmatched in this game. They will need to play a perfect game to have a chance. If this game is close, it is because the Notre Dame football team failed to take care of the ball. Irish continue to dominate and prove they are deserving of the No. 3 ranking.
