Notre Dame Football: 3 bold predictions for Irish-Hurricanes
By Chase Eyrich
Prediction #1: Wimbush will do more damage with his arm
We all know Brandon Wimbush is a dual-threat quarterback. At times this team has been considered one dimensional behind the strong running of Wimbush accompanied with Josh Adams and his Heisman campaign. Bring in some struggles at times throwing the ball and this claim will hold on for the whole season.
Wimbush has been hot as of recent. Last week was his biggest game as far as passing yards go. 280 yards through the air for the QB against Wake Forest. Sometimes the extra confidence in one game is enough to extend into the next one. This week the Irish will need it too.
Miami has a great front seven. With 26 total sacks on the season, the Hurricanes can bring the pressure. To get Josh Adams the ball and enough room to create damage (he doesn’t need much), then you have to be able to attack through the air.
Wimbush will need to throw early on. You especially want to see him in the air on first downs. The goal is to keep the defense honest and set back enough that Adams will have viable room to make that one move then rush down hill.
Notre Dame has the ability to put points on the board. That’s been proven week in and week out. We’re not trying to hide anything here. Notre Dame’s identity is in their run game, that’s been established. This simply is about knowing what Wimbush can really do. When that pressure comes. Wimbush can extend plays and has become smarter as the season has gone along making the right plays.
