B-. . ALL. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. OFFENSE

A final grade of ‘B-‘ might seem odd for a team that scored more points than any other Brian Kelly-coached group. However, this is an indication of how talented this group is. They under-delieved on their promise as a group.

The lack of passing attack was not apparent until Notre Dame lost to Miami (FL) in November. Up until that point, the Irish looked like a team so dominant in the running game that they could simply pound any team in front of them into submission.

But, as soon as someone took that strength away, Notre Dame floundered. Brandon Wimbush deserves the majority of the blame. However, the coaching staff’s lack of impact on the progress of Wimbush’s accuracy should not go unnoticed.

Overall, this is an excellent season for the Fighting Irish. They scored 35.3 points per contest. The Fighting Irish rushed for 279.08 yards per game. Against Wake Forest, Notre Dame racked up an absurd 710 total yards.

Was this group more like the team that torched USC for 49 points? Or was it more like the group that scored only 8 points against Miami (FL)? They will be remembered for the failures against Georgia, Miami (FL) and Stanford more than their triumphs against USC and NC State.
