After dropping two games in a row, Notre Dame bounced back on-the-road against Delaware, 92-68.

On Saturday, Notre Dame Mike Brey returned to his former place of employment. From 1995 to 2000, Brey coached the Blue Hens. He led Delaware to the NCAA Tournament twice before taking the job in South Bend.

Former Notre Dame basketball player and long-time assistant Martin Ingelsby now coaches the Blue Hens. So, in addition to Brey’s homecoming,

Aside from the pleasantries, Notre Dame made the Blue Hens feel unpleasant. TJ Gibbs, Matt Farrell and Bonzie Colson propelled the Irish to victory.

Delaware fought with the Fighting Irish for first 13 minutes of the contest. However, after TJ Gibbs connected on a free throw with 7:15 left in the 1st half, the Irish never relinquished the lead.

Senior Point Guard Matt Farrell scored 24 points while dishing out 7 assists. His backcourt mate, TJ Gibbs, chipped in 21 points.

Colson, Notre Dame’s best player, contributed 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Despite receiving great performances from Gibbs, Farrell, Colson and Pflueger, the Irish bench still lacks the punch needed to get Notre Dame over the top. Against Delaware, the bench only scored 10 points.

Crossroads Classic Awaits

Notre Dame’s next game takes place next Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. In the annual Crossroads Classic, the Irish will battle Indiana and first-year Head Coach Archie Miller.

The Hoosiers limp into the matchup with a 5-5 record. Yesterday, Indiana dropped a game to Louisville, 71-62.

Despite 5 losses, the Hoosiers have fought hard in almost every game aside from the upset loss to Indiana State. Notre Dame needs to put Indiana away quickly so they do not give the Hoosiers confidence.

The Irish and Hoosiers tip off at 2:30 pm on Saturday. FOX will broadcast the game.
