Notre Dame Football: Pre-Bowl Season Draft Projections For Irish Players
By Andrew Hall
With forty-one bowl games and only two with true meaning, the whole post-season can feel pointless. However, in addition to several other reasons, the bowl games impact draft status significantly. For example, Manti Te’o appeared a lock for the first-round prior to the BCS National Title game. After the Alabama game, Te’o found himself struggling to stay in the second-round. Here is where the top prospects on the Notre Dame football team find themselves prior to their game against LSU.
Quenton Nelson – Offensive Guard
High: No. 3 (Indianapolis Colts)
Low: No. 9 (Cincinnati Bengals)

At his position, Quenton Nelson might represent the best player in the NFL Draft. Typically, Guards do not receive a high-draft status. Nelson is definitely the exception. As a unanimous All-American selection, his future looks that of an NFL All-Pro.
Mike McGlinchey – Offensive Tackle
High: No. 15 (Los Angeles Rams)
Low: No. 31 (Philadelphia Eagles)
Most NFL mock drafts still place McGlinchey in the first round. McGlinchey, a consensus All-American, definitely represents one of the best Offensive Tackles in the class. However, his consistency blocking edge rushers may limit his draft stock. Does a future Right Tackle deserve a first-round pick?
Josh Adams – Running Back
High: No. 98 (New York Giants)
Low: N/A
After a phenomenal Junior campaign, Adams created a lot of Heisman buzz. Despite trailing off during the end of the year, he might depart for the NFL. With his speed and size, the Irish Running Back could garner first-round attention. His biggest downside is his inability to stay healthy. Will Adams leave for the NFL early and limit the number of hits on his body?
Equanimeous St. Brown – Wide Receiver
High: No. 120 (Cleveland Browns)
Low: N/A
St. Brown did not catch as many passes as he did in 2016. However, he still possesses great size and speed that is unmatched by a lot of players. With one mock draft projecting St. Brown being selected in the fourth round, does St. Brown stay in order to improve his stock?
