Notre Dame football recruiting is in full swing with the new early signing period only a day away. For the first time, recruits can sign prior to the typical February date. This allows staffs to lock up the majority of their prospects while still hunting the big-time players. Here is a brief preview of tomorrow’s early signing period.

Current Commitments

The Irish hold twenty commitments from prospects who (unless anything changes) will sign during the early signing period. These verbals include (247Sports Composite Ranking):

After hauling in several premier prospects of the past few classes, Notre Dame sits with commitments from two developmental prospects. The Irish staff still hopes to reel in big-time prospect Nicholas Petit-Frere. But, Notre Dame also moved forward in their pursuit of Colorado commit Frank Fillip and Arkansas commit Luke Jones.

Uncommitted Group

WR Braden Lenzy, S Julius Irvin, CB Kyler Gordon remain undecided but could sign during the early period. Lenzy has scheduled an announcement for Friday, Dec. 22nd. Friday is the last day in the early signing period. Many experts believe that Lenzy will select the Irish on Friday.

After the early period, Notre Dame will continue to pursue the elite prospects like WR Amon-ra St. Brown, OT Nicholas Petit-Frere and ILB Solomon Tuliaupupu.
