Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Remaining Targets in 2018 Class
By Andrew Hall
On Wednesday, the early signing period began. In the three day period, the Irish staff signed 21 players to the Notre Dame football recruiting class. Despite landing an excellent class already, Brian Kelly and the staff hope to land a few more prospects by the final signing period in February. Here are a few names to keep an eye on as the Irish close out 2018 recruiting.
WR – Amon-Ra St. Brown
The youngest St. Brown brother likely selects USC over the Irish. Despite the best effort from the Irish staff, USC is tough to beat. His high school Quarterback JT Daniels, a 2019 prospect, plans to reclassify and enroll at USC in this class. Add that to the fact that Notre Dame’s passing attack struggled this season, St. Brown almost seems a lock to be a Trojan.
OT – Nicholas Petit-Frere
With this recruitment continuing, Notre Dame is less likely to land one of the top Offensive Tackles in the country. At one point, the Irish appeared the team to beat for Petit-Frere. However, with Dan Mullen now in Gainesville, the Gators reemerge as the team to beat for his services.
LB – Solomon Tuliaupupu
Notre Dame continues to pursue one of the best Linebacker in the country. He visited South Bend for the battle against the Trojans. Tuliaupupu is teammates of Amon-ra St. Brown, JT Daniels, and Chris Murray.
DB – Julius Irvin
Servite High School Safety Julius Irvin will choose between Notre Dame, Washington, and USC. Irvin might be able to play Cornerback and Safety. His flexibility is a big plus in recruiting him. Irvin visited Notre Dame on Sept. 9.
WR – Lawrence Keys
With the commitment of Braden Lenzy, Notre Dame may stop recruiting Keys. The Irish received commitments from Kevin Austin, Micah Jones, and Braden Lenzy. This group is the complete package: a complete receiver, the red zone target and the “burner.” There might not be a spot left for Keys.

DE – Malik Langham
A pass rusher is one thing missing in the 21 commitments. Malik Langham, a late offer, might end up being that player for the Irish. Notre Dame looked like a real destination until in-state powerhouse Alabama also offered Langham. Now, the Crimson Tide look like the favorite for him. Langham visited for the Echoes Awards.
