3 Bold Predictions For Notre Dame Football: Citrus Bowl vs. LSU
By Chase Eyrich
LSU’s Offense Will Look Confused
There is a chance that we will see LSU’s offense look somewhat confused at times. The Tigers could be using a new offensive coordinator. Matt Canada is supposedly looking for a head-coaching job, meaning he might be gone before the game.
If Canada is not available for the Citrus Bowl, tight ends coach Steve Ensminger will call the plays.
While this coming at the very end of the season you would like to think that there is enough chemistry between players and coaches that this won’t be a problem, but it has the potential to be.
LSU is considered a run-first team. Will a tight ends coach continue that trend, or will he think about the ways he’s been trying to get his ends open? At the same time, he knows the blocking patterns his player have been using and may be able to tie that to a strong running game for the Tigers.
Being able to pull someone up from inside the faculty is a bonus for LSU, but there will always be that factor of the unknown. Someone different behind the headset could be big. Just having a different voice funneling the game plan could get LSU off to a slow start.
This gives Notre Dame the chance to make Ensminger earn his paycheck. With a strong front seven, the Irish could be looking to audible and disguise as much as possible. Notre Dame could take advantage of a new play caller. If so, that could be the difference in what is expected to be a close game.
