5. 2010

Notre Dame’s NFL Draft Class of 2010 comes in at No. 5 on our rankings. This class had the potential to be great, but not all college talent translates seamlessly to the next level.

The Class of 2010 boasted two 2nd round picks — Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate — who were both considered top notch NFL talents coming out of college. Also drafted were Sam Young and Eric Olsen — both selected in the 6th round.

Clausen was touted as a potential first-round pick, and was expected to be one of the top quarterbacks of the 2010 draft class. He was eventually passed over and was chosen behind Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow. Clausen slipped all the way to the 16th pick of the 2nd round and was selected by the Carolina Panthers. He played for two other teams during his time in the NFL the Bears and Ravens — and has not been seen in action since 2015.

Golden Tate has enjoyed a much more fruitful NFL career. Tate won Super Bowl XLVIII as a member of the Seattle Seahawks and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2014 as a member of his current team, the Detroit Lions. Tate was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks with the 60th overall pick in the 2nd round.

Overall this Notre Dame draft class was not the greatest, however it did just crack our Top 5.
