Notre Dame football continues to kill it on the recruiting trail.

The Irish just keep rolling along on the recruiting trail. Kyle Hamilton, a safety from Georgia, has committed to the 2019 Notre Dame football class. This is Notre Dame’s fifth commit in the last five days. The Irish have been pursuing Hamilton since they offered back in February and have been making him feel like a five-star prospect since that day.

He’s been on campus multiple times and his last visit was for Junior Day in March — which couldn’t have gone any better. From the campus to the coaching staff, academics and his future teammates, he couldn’t be a better fit for Notre Dame. Obvisouly Georgia was a big threat for his services, seeing as it’s his home state.  He’s been on campus numerous times building relationships and bonds with players and staff, so the Irish had to hold the dawgs off to snag him. In the end, he absolutely fell in love with everything about Notre Dame and just couldn’t turn the Irish down.

It’s interesting to note that Hamilton is also really good friends with current Notre Dame defensive back commit K.J. Wallace. I think that only made this decision a lot more comfortable in regard to deciding to leave home.

Hamliton has blown up on the recruiting trail since February. He now holds 36 offers and a ton of those are from big time programs. He held a Top 7 consisting of Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Duke and Notre Dame. In the end, the Irish held off these heavy hitters to get his commitment.

What Hamilton will bring to South Bend:

Hamilton is a great kid in the classroom. He takes academics very seriously and cares deeply about his future outside of football. That’s another reason why he’s a tremendous fit at Notre Dame. As for Hamilton athletically, he’s also a great high school basketball player. He has one of the higher upsides as an athlete of any Notre Dame recruit I’ve seen in awhile.

The 6’3, 190-pound safety is a top notch athlete. His size is tremendous, which I gravitate to a ton when talking about the back-end of a defense. If the football’s in the air, Hamilton will attack it at it’s highest point without hesitation and most likely beat you to it. He also breaks on the ball very well.

His skill-set will only help him become a great college player and possible future NFL star. His football IQ and instincts are hard to come by for a junior in high school. Putting that all together, he’s a very special talent at the safety postion for his size and he’s only going to continue growing. I’m excited to see what’s next from him. He will be a huge bonus for the Irish in the secondary.

I also expect him to have a huge jump when it comes to his recruiting rankings. He’s easily a high four-star player through and through in my eyes. He should be intriguing to follow over the next several months.

Hamilton is the third defensive back commit, including safety Litchfield Ajavon and corner K.J. Wallace. Those three together make up already an outstanding haul for defensive backs and safeties coaches Todd Lyght and Terry Joseph. I’d look for the staff to try to add one or two more defensive backs before it’s all said and done.

Notre Dame now has eight commits in the 2019 recruiting class and is looking to add a few more big-time targets in the next month.
