No. 3: Clayton Thorson, Northwestern

Thorson is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in all of college football. Before he took the helm in 2015, Northwestern was not even a .500 team. Since then, Thorson has led his Wildcats to three-straight bowl games and two 10-win seasons.

Thorson was and still may be on pace to break nearly every quarterback record at Northwestern. An unfortunate ACL tear in the Music City Bowl last year may derail his plans. Thorson has not been able to participate with his team since his ACL tear. On average, a tear like Thorson’s may take 9-12 months to fully heal. He may not be ready for the Wildcats opener come August 30th. But it seems very likely Thorson will be nearly 100-percent when Notre Dame visits Northwestern in November. Yikes.

Overall, Clayton Thorson is top-notch quarterback who probably would’ve been drafted this year if it had not been for his injury.
