Notre Dame Football: Top 5 Quarterbacks Irish Will Face in 2018
No.1: Deondre Francois/James Blackman, Florida State
After a hectic 2017 to say the least, Florida State will look to return to its usual winning ways in 2018. After a disappointing campaign that ended up with only seven wins, a change needed to be made. When long-time head coach Jimbo Fisher took the job at Texas A&M, that change was forced.
Florida State brought in Willie Taggart, and he does not have an easy job in front of him.
Or maybe he does.
Is having two stud quarterbacks a good problem or a bad one? Taggart — head coach of the Oregon Ducks in 2017 — will eventually have to choose one to be his starter.
Do you go with Deondre Francois, the star quarterback who was great in 2016 and had the Seminoles ranked No. 3 in 2017 before his season-ending injury? Or do you go with James Blackman, the man who righted the ship and saved Florida State from what could have been an even more disastrous 2017?
In seven games played for Florida State in 2017, Blackman threw for 1285 yards and 7 TDs. In a full 2016 season, Francois threw for 3,350 yards and 20 TDs. Taggart has a tough decision on his hands, and it may be a case of pick your poison for Notre Dame fans.
The truth is that these are two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation. Both have the potential to hurt the Irish tremendously with their legs OR their arms. The Seminoles will be looking to prove themselves in 2018, and their matchup against the Irish will be a must-see.
