Notre Dame football added another big time recruit late Tuesday night.

Just last week, Notre Dame football added five recruits to the 2019 class in a span of five days. Today, they’ve added another tremendous talent in 2019 offensive lineman Quinn Carroll from Minnesota. If there is one recruit you had to pick that you’d call an outstanding fit for what the University of Notre Dame is all about both academically and athletically, it’s Quinn Carroll.

After offering a scholarship to Carroll over a year ago from former offensive line coach Harry Heistand, the Irish staff and new line coach Jeff Quinn have continued to make Carroll a massive priority.

He was last on campus two weeks ago and has been to South Bend a number of times, with each visit being better and better. Building relationships with the staff and players was key and he did just that. I think this was an easy choice for Carroll and his family, especially knowing what he’ll get out of his time at Notre Dame. Seeing all the social media reactions of him being around current and former Irish players was icing on the cake.

Caroll had 31 offers and narrowed his list down to a Top 6 that included Ohio State, Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech and of course Notre Dame. In the end, the Irish won this battle hands down. His father also played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His brother played at Virginia Tech, so he definitely has a great bloodline in football.

What will Carroll bring to South Bend?

It’s hard to argue that Notre Dame isn’t one of the top programs in the country in terms of developing great lineman throughout the years — most recently Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey going in the Top 10 overall of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Quinn Carroll has the tools to be one of the next guys in line at Notre Dame to have a career like those two. Physically, he’s already there. If he gets the playbook down, it wouldn’t shock me if he started as an underclassman —  he’s that ready physically. He will absolutely bring toughness to the line of scrimmage and he’s aggressive at the point of attack. If you’re in his way, nine times out of ten you will be plowed over. He just plays angry and mean — exactly what you want in the trenches. Along with his physicality, he has very quick hands and a quick first step for being a massive guy.

Quinn Carroll was meant to be an offensive lineman at Notre Dame and today was the day he decided on that. You have to give a ton of praise to offensive line coach Jeff Quinn, who’s now added three highly touted lineman to this class in a little over the span of a week.

Carroll joins offensive lineman John Olmstead and Andrew Kristofic in the class, with the staff looking to add at least two more on the line. The train continues to roll for the Irish as they look to add a few more to #FightClub19 in the coming weeks.
