Statement No. 3: Brandon Wimbush’s struggles as a passer force Brian Kelly’s hand, pushing Phil Jurkovec into the starting role by season’s end.

JP: Fiction. The Notre Dame offense is predicated more on quarterback mobility and explosive plays than passing efficiency.

Jack: Fiction. A lot more would have to happen before Brian Kelly hands the reins over to an incoming freshman. Most notably, Jurkovec would need to surpass Ian Book on the depth chart. Barring injury, I believe Brandon Wimbush will be the team’s starting quarterback in every game this season. I think he’ll show significant improvement in his second year as a starter.

Sonny: Fiction. As long as Wimbush can make the throws he needs to make and run efficiently, he’ll be fine. If he doesn’t, Ian Book would be the guy to step in. I think Jurkovec redshirts this season. MAYBE this turns into something to address next offseason.
