Notre Dame football cornerback Julian Love landed on Athlon Magazine’s Preseason All-America team.

It’s that quiet-yet-exciting time of the year when the college football preseason magazines are hitting the shelves. With their release, you get to see what some of the experts think about Notre Dame football heading into 2018.

One of the very best of those magazines is the one put out by Athlon Sports every year.

Athlon includes its Preseason All-America team in its annual publication. Heading into the 2018 campaign, Notre Dame corner Julian Love made the list as a Third Team All-American.

Love was the only member of the Notre Dame football team to make the list on offense, defense or special teams. That’s a bit surprising, considering the Irish are essentially a consensus preseason Top 25 team. The omission of Jerry Tillery was probably the biggest surprise on the front. Outside of that, it wouldn’t have been shocking to see enter Sam Mustipher make the team. That said, his omission is not a huge surprise.

Be that as it may, it’s still quite an honor for Julian Love. His three interceptions and 20 passes defended were impressive enough to land him on a couple of All-American teams last season.

Joining Love as All-Americans on Athlon list were first-teamers Byron Murphy of Washington and Greedy Williams of LSU, second-teamers Deandre Baker of Georgia and Mark Gilbert of Duke, and fellow third-teamer Brian Peavy of Iowa State.
