9. Jerian Grant, 2011-2015

I originally had Grant higher on the list, but after taking a walk down memory lane, he tumbled a bit for me. Grant averaged double-digit points in all four of his seasons and 14.6 for his career. A versatile wing that could also play the point, the 6’5 guard also averaged nearly six assists a game for his career.

Most remember Grant for having a spectacular start to the 2013-14 campaign, Notre Dame’s first season in the ACC, before being deemed academically ineligible for the second semester. In twelve games, he averaged 19 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Instead of taking the easy way out, Grant persevered, got his act together and came back for a solid senior season. He averaged 16.5 points, 6.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 3 rebounds per game. Notre Dame won 32 games that year, earned a No. 3 seed in the tournament, winning three games before falling just short against a then undefeated Kentucky team led by Karl Anthony-Towns.

Grant is currently playing in his third season in the NBA, now with the Chicago Bulls after a couple seasons with the New York Knicks. In 2017-18, he appeared in 74 games, averaging 8.4 points, 4.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.

The play I remember most from his college day is when he officially welcomed Georgia Tech’s Tadric Jackson to the ACC.
