Notre Dame has added a top target at the outside linebacker position. Jack Kiser of Royal Center, Indiana committed to join the Irish on Tuesday.

The Notre Dame football team added a solid linebacker to the group of 2019 commits. Jack Kiser has announced he’s committed to Notre Dame. Kiser has been to South Bend a number of times, most recently at the end of May. I don’t think there was any doubt that the Irish were going to be a major player for Kiser until the very end of his recruitment, especially being from Indiana.

But it was up to the Irish staff if they were completely on board with wanting to add him to the class. Those notions were put to rest when the linebacker coach Clark Lea and the staff went all in on Kiser after his latest visit and didn’t look back. Kiser is a guy Coach Lea wanted and he got him. The Indiana native holds 11 offers from the likes of Michigan State, Iowa and Purdue among others.

What’s Kiser bringing to South Bend?

The 6’2, 220-pound linebacker is extremely smart when it comes to football IQ. He lead the team in many statistical categories last season. There’s no doubt he’s a true leader at his position.

As for his style of play, Kiser is very aggressive and knows how to hit. He’s excellent at wrapping up and getting low on the ball carrier.  Kiser is also a tremendous all-around athlete. In addition to football, he runs track and wrestles.

This is a good pick up for Notre Dame and what Coach Lea is trying to build on defense. I think he could be an outstanding leader down the road for the Irish. He’s not going to be the most talented when it’s all said and done, but when he does get his opportunity for the Irish, his leadership and dedication to being the best will surely go a long way for Notre Dame.

With Jack Kiser committing to Notre Dame, the Irish now have 12 commits, 8 of which come on defense, and 4 of which are come on offense, with one being a punter. Look for the staff to try and have 3 linebackers this recruiting cycle with some big targets left on the board for the Irish.
