Wide Receiver

Commits: None

Wide receiver is in a similar situation as QB. Notre Dame landed a very talented 2018 class and looks to be in very good shape to do the same in 2020. With that said, the staff wants to land a few guys in the 2019 class.

Cam Hart was recently on campus, and the expectation is he will announce his commitment to Notre Dame later this week.

Another ND target, TJ Sheffield, surprisingly announced a commitment date this morning for July 6th. I’m of the opinion that if Notre Dame wants him he will be Irish, but I’m not convinced he is a take right now. Sheffield has a top four of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue and Arkansas.

Genson Hooper-Price was offered back in February and has stated Notre Dame is in his top group. This is good news considering he has never been to campus, and he plans to get up to South Bend once the dead period is up. Baylor, Duke and Northwestern round out his top group. It’s too early to call Notre Dame the leader here, but I could see them winning this battle after his visit.

Cornelius Johnson is likely the top WR target on Notre Dame’s board, but he has been a hot commodity on the trail in recent months. Helping the Irish is his relationship with 2020 QB commit Drew Pyne. Johnson doesn’t have a commitment date set. Michigan, Penn State and Stanford are all in play.

Rounding out Notre Dame’s realistic big board is Illinois athlete Kendall Abdur-Rahman. With the coaching staff likely taking 2 wide receivers in the class, it will be interesting how it shakes out. With Hart likely joining the class in the next few days, this is one of the more enticing position groups to follow.

Tight end

Commits: None

After landing George Takacs and Tommy Tremble in 2018 and the commitments of Kevin Bauman and Michael Mayer in 2020, I would be surprised if Notre Dame took a tight end in 2019. However, the staff did just offer West Virginia flex tight end Brenton Strange. He’s the guy to monitor moving forward.
