Linebacker

Commits: Osita Ekwonu (North Carolina), Jack Kiser (Indiana)

The Irish coaching staff is pushing hard for one more linebacker in the class, and they have a good shot at doing just that. Two California products are coming off recent official visits to Notre Dame, and both are extremely high on the Irish.

Tristan Sinclair is a long-time target and one of the most athletic linebackers in the country. Notre Dame wants him at ROVER. With his dad a Stanford grad and his mom a Cal grad, he will be a tough pull from the two in-state schools. However, he has maintained Notre Dame is in a strong position to land him.

Asa Turner is a more recent target, but a good one at that. He took his official on June 15th and things seem to have gone very well. Washington and Notre Dame are the perceived top 2 with a decision on the horizon. Assuming distance isn’t a factor, Notre Dame could hold the edge here. Notre Dame recruiting insider, Tom Loy of IrishIllustrated.com just put in a crystal ball in favor of the Irish – typically meaning good things.

It’s unknown if Notre Dame is willing to take both players, but I suspect it will be a first come, first serve scenario. I doubt both guys would want to come on board with the depth chart the way it is.
