By J.P. Scott
EA Sports released all of the individual player ratings for Madden 2019 today. Here’s how some of the most notable former Notre Dame football players measure up.
The release of EA Sports’ Madden ratings has become a bit of an unofficial holiday for those loyal to the Madden franchise. Well — today is the day — and some of your favorite Notre Dame football players look to measure up well in the gaming universe.
Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith got the highest overall rating of any former Irish player. He scored a 97.
Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin got an overall rating of 96. He was one of three Cowboys to get that rating — the highest on the team — tying him with linebacker Sean Lee and center Travis Frederick. Dallas Linebacker Jaylon Smith had an overall rating of 75.
Tyler Eifert of the Bengals had a surprisingly high score of 89 — second-highest amongst all Cincinnati players behind only A.J. Green.
Golden Tate also registered a well-deserved 89 on the Madden scale. He’ll look to catch 90-or-more passes for a fifth consecutive season in 2018. Teammate Theo Riddick scored an 84.
Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph pulled in with an overall score of 86, as did Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Stephon Tuitt.
Indianapolis Colts rookie guard Quenton Nelson — the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft — logged an overall score of 83. Not surprisingly, that was the highest rating of a Notre Dame rookie and the highest of all linemen drafted in 2018.
