Next comes winless Vanderbilt, who loses yet again. Now No.12, the Irish hand the Commodores their 5th loss, 45-34. A little too close for comfort, but hey, SEC speed.

An excellent day for Chase Claypool — 7 catches for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Let’s hope that is accurate.

Herm Edwards is back at it again, this time leading his No.17 Arizona State team to a huge upset of third ranked USC. One thing you can say about Edwards’ coached teams: they definitely play to win the game.

Second-ranked Ohio State also lost, although it was to Wisconsin, who was No.5. The No. 2, 3, 14, 20 and 25 teams all lost. Maybe this is Upset Saturday, but I feel like it’s just going to get weirder from here.

Week 6 takes us to a date with Florida State, who are somehow No. 5, while the Irish are ranked No.12. The 12/5 upset is apparently still a thing in football, as Notre Dame beats Florida State, 24-10. A pair of Wimbush to Claypool touchdowns helped seal the deal.

The Irish are now 6-0, and I like where this season is going.

Stanford suffered it’s second loss of the season, a 45-14 demolition by Washington. No.8, 14, 15, 18, 20, 23, and 25 all lost.

I didn’t realize we were simulating the 2007 season.
