Jeff Quinn (Offensive Line)

Quinn is first on this list, because he presents a different outlook than the remaining staff members included. The current Notre Dame offensive line coach is a Brian Kelly protege, and one that has found himself back with Kelly after a disappointing head coaching career at Buffalo. Quinn and Kelly worked together at Grand Valley State in the 1980’s. When Kelly became Head Coach in 1991 Quinn stayed on as OC, and would remain by Kelly’s side until 2010.

More than likely, Quinn would have followed Kelly to Notre Dame as the offensive line coach and possible offensive coordinator, but Quinn also was given the opportunity to become a head coach. He led the Buffalo football team for 4+ seasons before his mid-season firing in 2014.

He quickly found himself back with Kelly as an offensive analyst, and when Harry Hiestand bolted for the Chicago Bears offensive line coaching job earlier this year, Quinn was promoted to the same position at Notre Dame.

It’s fair to say his head coaching career is behind him. However, Kelly will likely have a coaching position available to him for as long as he wants to coach.
