3. Who is stepping up on the left side of the offensive line?

It’s no secret that a big reason for the success of the Notre Dame rushing attack last season was the offensive line — particularly on the left side.

Mike McGlinchey and Quinton Nelson were both first round picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, and both will be missed dearly. All is not lost, however, as there is still plenty of talent remaining.

Sam Mustipher and Alex Bars are two very good players who have plenty of experience. Both have been named preseason All-Americans in multiple preview magazine publications. Tommy Kraemer also started last year, and he’ll be back.

Robert Hainsey and Liam Eichenberg both played well when they got the chance last season. Both will be two guys Brian Kelly looks at to help replace two elite players.

Sophomores Aaron Banks and Josh Lugg are two other younger players who could help in a major way this season. Don’t sleep on 4-star freshman Jarrett Patterson, either.
