Chase Claypool (WR)

Overall Rank: 178

Position Rank: 72

As you’ll see in the following section, Claypool is ranked ten spots ahead of Miles Boykin. I agree that these two guys should be ranked close together, but I think the order should be reversed. Claypool is a talented player, but he has yet to reach his full potential. If you draft him, you’re basically taking a flyer and hoping he becomes Brandon Wimbush’s second-favorite target.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chip Long loves to utilize tight ends in his offense. This makes reps slightly more competitive for the wide receiver group. On top of that, you’re betting on Brandon Wimbush becoming a much more efficient passer.

I don’t think Claypool — along with all other Notre Dame pass-catchers — should be drafted in Fantasy Football. Not because they’re not good enough, but in order to mitigate risk and see how the Notre Dame offense looks in the first couple weeks.
