The first full week of NFL preseason football kicked off last night. Some former Irish players made impacts.

You can feel it in the air. Football season is here, all around us and even on our TVs. Last night, the majority of NFL franchises kicked of their 2018 preseason campaigns. A couple of former Notre Dame football players made their debuts, while a former Irish quarterback looked solid with his new team.

Equanimeous St. Brown, Wide Receiver, Green Bay Packers

St. Brown made his debut last night against the Tennessee Titans. He was targeted six times, catching four of those passes for 61 yards. It was a nice outing, especially after the criticism Aaron Rodgers had about the receiving unit earlier in the week. The Packers won the game 31-17.

DeShone Kizer, Quarterback, Green Bay Packers

Kizer made his first appearance as a Green Bay Packer last night. He went 9-of-18 passing for 134 yards. He also ran the ball three times for 18 yards.

Josh Adams, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles

Adams made his debut last night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rookie toted the rock for 30 yards on six carries. Those six carries tied a team-high in the game. He also caught both passes thrown to him, gaining 11 total yards on those plays.

For DeShone Kizer, you got the feeling that he is very much in the mix to be the backup in Green Bay. There have been whispers about trading current backup Brett Hundley recently, so it was nice to see Kizer be somewhat productive. All signs point to him being with the team for a while.

For Adams and St. Brown, it was nice to see them get plenty of looks and reps in some very crowded position groups on some teams with high hopes for 2018. It’s early, but I believe both players have a good chance of making their respective 53-man rosters.
