The countdown to Michigan rolls on, as we are now exactly a week — seven days — away from the 2018 Notre Dame football season. We continue the kickoff countdown by looking at some of the best Irish players to wear No. 7 over the years.

The off-season Notre Dame football fluff pieces continue! The good news is there’s only a week left before the Irish take the field vs. Michigan. The bad news is there’s STILL a week left. We’ll survive — just keep watching Notre Dame highlight videos on YouTube and reading way too many articles on the Irish about the upcoming season (kidding, read them all).

A few days ago we started this countdown looking at the best players to wear No. 9 for Notre Dame over the years — and that list featured some big names. While that list boasts some all-time greats and fan favorites, the No. 7 list isn’t far behind when it comes to household names and great players.

This list covers a wider-range of time periods than our No. 9 list did and it is quarterback-heavy. There are some familiar names and some names Irish fans have not heard in a while. And just to ruin the fun for you Wimbush-haters — no, he is not on this list.

Without further ado, here are the greatest Golden Domers to ever rock No. 7.
