Honorable Mentions

T.J. Jones, WR, 2010 – 2013

T.J. Jones was a consistent starter for the Irish all four years he played and was one of the most dependable players during those four years. During his senior season in 2013, he set career highs in reception (70), yards (1,108), and touchdowns (9). Jones finished his career second on Notre Dame’s all-time receptions list (181), eighth for receptions in a single season (70), seventh for receiving yards in a career (2,429), and eighth for receiving yards in a season (1,108). He will always be remembered for his sliding touchdown grab vs Stanford in overtime in 2012 and deserves some love on this list.

Steve Beuerlein, QB, 1983 – 1986

Another quarterback sighting. Beuerlein had an up-and-down career for the Irish, battling a nagging shoulder injury, the resignation of head coach Gerry Faust before his senior year, and splitting time or being benched multiple times during his four years in South Bend. He finished his career with 6,537 passing yards and an unimpressive 55.6% completion percentage, 27 touchdowns, and 44 interceptions.  He is however, one of only two Irish quarterbacks to go a perfect 4-0 vs USC in his career, and for that, he makes the honorable mention list.

Next. The Best Irish Players to Wear No. 9. dark

Jarious Jackson, QB, 1996 – 1999

I did warn you this was a quarterback-heavy list. Jackson saw little playing time during his first two seasons with the Irish, but started his last two seasons, eventually setting school single-season records for passing yards (2,753), completions (184), and attempts (316) as a senior in 1999. These records became stepping stones for Brady Quinn and almost every Irish quarterback since, but that’s still worth mentioning. Jackson finished his career with 4,820 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, and a 57.1% completion percentage — a very respectable resume.
