Week one is finally here. “Football is back” seems to be the phrase that we just can’t get enough of as Notre Dame Football and Michigan get ready for each other.

Not only is football back, Notre Dame and Michigan is back. Who couldn’t be excited about this matchup after the three-year hiatus?

Memories of Michigan’s infamous playing of the chicken dance in 2013 have been suppressed by another phrase of which Notre Dame fans just can’t get enough– “Michigan still hasn’t scored.”

With a 31-0 shutout in their last meeting, the bad blood seems just as fresh as it used to be.

It makes no difference what happened four years ago. This game has the potential to dictate both teams seasons. This week one matchup is well worth the hype.

Not only will Jim Harbaugh get his first experience of this matchup as a coach, his transfer quarterback will experience Notre Dame game day for the first time, as well.

The Wolverines have been building hype behind Shea Patterson and he now has the opportunity to prove himself under the lights at Notre Dame Stadium.

While head coach Brian Kelly is set on Brandon Wimbush starting, we’ve been made well aware that Ian Book may get some playing time too.

With some slight question marks for both offenses coming into this game, one thing is certain. This will be a defensive game. Both teams are bringing in stout and experienced defenses.

Michigan believes they have a defense that makes them a National Championship caliber team, while Notre Dame believes their defensive squad could be better than the 2012 one that led the Irish to the National Championship game.

This is a game that needs no hype built up for itself. Football is back – Notre Dame and Michigan is back.

Let’s get ready with three bold predictions heading into the season opener.
