After a physical, statement win vs. Michigan in Week 1, the Notre Dame football team shifts its focus to the Ball State Cardinals. Here are the biggest storylines for the Irish heading into their Week 2 matchup.

After all the Michigan talk this off-season, it feels like we should still be talking about last week’s victory. While it was a great way to kick off the 2018 Notre Dame football season, the Irish still have 11 more opponents and opportunities to prove themselves as a College Football Playoff contender.

It’s no secret that the Irish are a very heavy favorite this week vs. Ball State, opening up as 33-35 point favorites.  Ball State went 2-10 last year and finished as one of the worst teams in the MAC. The Cardinals should be a little better this year, as they return most of their offensive and defensive starters from a year ago.

While many are considering this game to be nothing more than a scrimmage for the Irish, it is the next game on the schedule — meaning it is the most important one. Expect Notre Dame to come out and play with the same intensity from a week ago in front of a home crowd and improve across all three phases of the game.

Here are the top three storylines for Week 2 vs Ball State.
