Because we know how interested you are in our fantasy football teams!

So fellow STS golden domer Jack Leniart wrote about our staff college fantasy football league draft a while back. Some of you may know, I am not a CFB guy per se’, but I do love me some fantasy football. So I volunteered to the do the “Week in Review” to hopefully provide you all with some laughs.

Matchups and scores

Projected Score: Nathan Erbach (Gold Standard) 173.67 vs Mychal Hunter (Carolina Cloverfield) 157.87

Actual Score: Carolina Cloverfield 144.64 – Gold Standard119.18

Call it beginners luck or being a fantasy football savant, whichever, I call it a win. Of course, it also helps that Nathan’s receiver (S. Morgan Jr.) didn’t get to play. But, I deployed a kicker that didn’t score a point  and that’s pretty much the same thing.

Projected Score: (Carlee North) Carlee’s Team 140.06 vs (Sonny Martinez) Buffalo Wings 160.56

Actual Score: Carlee’s Team 184.26 – Buffalo Wings 113.78

Clearly Sonny’s love of black olives hurt him here. Also, the fact that Carlee used proper punctuation in her team name obviously scored her some points with the FFB gods. 95 combined points from Will Grier and Trayveon Williams could have impacted the result as well.

Projected Score: Omaha Beef (J.P. Scott) 165.76 vs Ketchup and Mustipher (Connor McJunkin) 149.54

Actual Score: Omaha Beef 78.66 – Ketchup and Mustipher 73.46

The boss man becomes the first favorite to live up to the hype in the battle of the disappointments. Of course the two lowest scoring teams of the week played each other, because fantasy football. J.P. actually had two guys that didn’t even play and still won. Connor’s highest scoring player was Jalen McCleskey, who had a phenomenal game…on the K&M bench. McJunkin really living up to his name in week 1.

———————————————————————————————-

Projected Score: Golson’s Tutors (Ben Belden) 143.74 vs Taylor’s Reputation (Jack Leniart) 159.51

Actual Score: Golson Tutors 151.58 – Taylor’s Reputation 137.64

Jack takes one on the chin in week 1. His 137 points were the highest among the losing teams. Coming into the week he had the third highest projected point total. He would have beaten five other teams this week had the gods of scheduling been on his side. His QB put up a 40 spot and he still lost. If it sounds like I’m piling on and laughing, it’s because I am. This stuff happens to me all the time.

———————————————————————————————-

Projected Score: Chase Eyrich’s Team (Chase Eyrich) 144.04 vs Mason’s Team (Mason Plummer) 122.00

Actual Score: Chase Eyrich’s Team 168.46 – Mason’s Team 108.10

In the battle of name creativity, the man who uses his surname prevails. Having four guys who score 22 or more always helps as well. Mason was the victim of yet another postponement from the weekend, losing David Montgomery to weather. Of course, Grant Calcatarra could probably absorb some of the disappointment, logging a less than hefty 0.80 points on an Oklahoma offense that dumped 63 points on Florida Atlantic.
