Notre Dame football is at the last of its tune-up games before the schedule gets strenuous. But then again, the Irish have to be mindful who they think might be an inferior opponent.

At the end of the day, the Irish are 3-0, but Ball State and Vanderbilt reminded the Notre Dame football world that winning is difficult. We all know that the Irish have the talent to beat Wake Forest, just as surely as they did for everyone else they’ve played this season.

At this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was a blowout or a dogfight.

Wake Forest comes into this game one win short of Notre Dame’s success. After wins over Tulane and Towson, the Demon Deacons fell last week to Boston College.

While Boston College is respectfully an average football team and have earned their top 25 spot, they’re the only real contest Wake Forest has had.

Wake Forest’s up-tempo offense has found some success. In all three games, they have eclipsed 500 yards of total offense. Another reason for concern is that against Boston College, Wake Forest ran 105 offensive plays.

Taking that many snaps makes it hard for the defense to find substitutions, especially when your two best defensive players — Te’von Coney and Drue Tranquill – don’t sub out.

The main focus this Saturday for Notre Dame will be to get another win. But with Stanford and Virginia Tech just around the corner, this is the last opportunity for the Irish to work out any kinks.

Here’s a look at three bold predictions for the game on Saturday.
