Brandon Wimbush throws for 200+ yards

There’s been a lot of doubt when it comes to the quarterback play at Notre Dame. In his second year as a starter, people are still asking if he should in fact be the starter. Head coach Brian Kelly thinks he might be the best running back on the team. Is that more of a shot at how he throws the ball or the running back production? Or, is Kelly simply complimenting the skill set of his quarterback?

Either way, Wake Forest hasn’t seen a quarterback like Wimbush this season. And seeing how the quarterbacks they have faced have fared, Wimbush shouldn’t have a problem finding success.

One way or another, Wake Forest’s opponents have found ways to put up big numbers. Even Towson threw for 345 yards.

Carlos Basham Jr. and Chris Calhoun had impressive performances in their first game against Tulane. Since then it’s been a different story.

They have struggled to put pressure on the quarterback so far. While Notre Dame’s offensive line isn’t exactly performing how they would prefer, it’s still a better unit than Wake Forest has had to deal with.

Wake Forest’s secondary isn’t the greatest either. Given some time, Wimbush has some huge weapons. We already mentioned Boykin’s size, and we know Chase Claypool is of similar stature. Alize Mack is coming off of what Kelly says may have been his best game ever and we’ve already seen how lethal Chris Finke is.

There are many receiving weapons Wimbush can use to expose Wake Forest’s defense. This is a prime opportunity for the Irish quarterback to silence some of the critics.
