A bit of a no-brainer for Notre Dame football’s Offensive Player of the Game vs. Wake Forest.

Finally — a blow out with not much concern! Saturday, Notre Dame football took it to Wake Forest on all levels and had a dominant 56-27 victory on the road.

Anytime you see a score in the fifties,  you are very happy as a fan — and you probably know that means the offense was lights out. That’s pretty much what it was, the offense was the best it’s been all season by far. And that came with the news of a quarterback change with Ian Book getting the start over Brandon Wimbush.

After watching this game, clearly that’s what had to be done for this offense to really play to the level it’s capable of. With that being said, there’s no doubt who won offensive MVP Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Ian Book was extremely impressive from start to finish. I think we all expected a decent game from him, but what he ended up doing with this offense was very exciting — perhaps even more so looking ahead.

People around the country took notice of Book’s performance as well:

Book finished 25 of 34 for 325 passing yards, which was an average of 9.6 yards per completion —  almost a first down every throw. He also used his legs quite a bit with 10 carries for 43 yards and three scores. But most impressive was going 7-of-7 in the redzone with 2 touchdown passes to go along with those 3 rushing touchdowns.

He was poised the entire game and never flinched. You can’t really do much better than that, especially for only your second career start for Notre Dame.

Mack was Unsung Hero vs. Wake Forest. dark. Next

Next week against Stanford will definitely be a much bigger challenge for Book and the offense, but if it’s anything close to what we saw Saturday, the Irish should be in great shape.
