Five Problematic Players for Notre Dame Against Stanford
By Paul Walsh
Alameen Murphy, Cornerback
Not only is Murphy one of the top tacklers for the Cardinal this season with 22, but he is also leading the team in interceptions with two. Ian Book played an excellent game against Wake Forest and limited the mistakes. If the Stanford defense can find a way to get to Book, he may be forced into making more mistakes this weekend. If he does end up forcing any throws, look for Murphy to be Stanford’s best bet at picking the ball off.
Bobby Okereke, Linebacker
Okereke played a great game against Oregon last week, making eight tackles, 2.5 of which were for a loss. He recorded a sack against the Ducks as well. He leads the Stanford defense in tackles for loss with 4.5 on the season, and he has recorded two sacks overall. Knowing just how much Stanford lost on defense, they needed Okereke to step up.
So far he has done just this.
Okereke is a legitimate threat to the Notre Dame offensive front and Ian Book, along with senior linebacker Joey Alfieri, who has four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in his own right. Look for Okereke to try to disrupt Book’s passing game along with help from Alfieri.
