Notre Dame football got a big win on Saturday, and wide receiver Chase Clypool was instrumental in the victory.

Another week in the books for the Irish and another game in the win column. Irish are 9-0 after a 31-21 victory over Northwestern. This game never should of been close to be honest. Watching the game, there were way too many self inflicted mistakes that could of cost the Irish, but they found a way to get it done on the road.

Defense was up and down for most of the game but really controlled the Wildcats when they had enough of them. Not having Tranquill for most of the night hurt a little, especially in the run game.

As for the offense, it sounds like a broken record, but once again Ian Book had a solid night and scored the biggest touchdown of the game on a quarterback keeper to seal the win.

That said, the player that really stood out to me Saturday night was Chase Claypool. Man oh man is he playing with a ton of confidence and physicality the past few weeks. That’s exactly what the Irish need from the 6-4 wide receiver.

Claypool had 8 catches for 130 yards, statistically the best game of his career so far. The catches were very timely and he kept multiple drives alive for the offense. No doubt he’s the Slap The Sign offensive player of the game.

If Claypool and the rest of the receiving corps continue playing physical, I don’t see how anyone can match up with them the rest of the season. As far a sa matchup with Claypool is concerned, he’s just so big and overpowering to defensive backs.

Next. Young was Unsung Hero vs. Northwestern. dark

I expect to see him progressing upwards the rest of the season. With Florida State coming to town this weekend, I could see another big game for Claypool in their secondary. The Irish look to stay undefeated Saturday night and I don’t see that changing if the offense continues to gel together.
