Dexter Williams goes for 150+ yards

It’s already been noted that Notre Dame is about to have the best home-field advantage that Mother Nature could provide. The game is expected to be played in freezing temperatures, something you won’t find in Tallahassee.

While this is something that will affect both teams, it obviously favors the Irish. Florida State has already looked lost and confused this season. Playing in a game in these conditions with really nothing left to play for this season could leave the Seminoles in a “why are we even here” mindset.

With everything said about the current 4-5 season, the Seminoles rush defense has been relatively okay. They held Northern Illinois to only six yards on 20 attempts and have only allowed two teams to run for over 150-yards. The first team to accomplish the feat was Syracuse, who ran for 222 yards. More recently, North Carolina State ran for 177 yards against the Seminoles.

The timing just isn’t right for Florida State. After giving up 177 yards to NC State, it will be a wake-up call to see a running back like Williams.

There are arguments that he may be inconsistent, but the games that Williams has “struggled” in were against opponents that Notre Dame knew it would be tough to run against.

It’s been a big year for the Notre Dame running back. In two of his five games this season, he surpassed 150-yards. Against Navy, he was only eight yard’s shy of that mark.

With the weather expected to be freezing and the possibility of snow, Notre Dame could elect to run the ball as much as possible. If Williams can find the gaps early, he could be the go-to guy the entire night.
