Notre Dame Football: 3 Bold Predictions vs. Florida State
By Chase Eyrich
Notre Dame breaks 50
It normally happens once a season. 50-points is a hard mark to pass. It normally means it was a blowout, or there was no defense in the game.
The Irish have already passed this marker this season with a 56-point performance against Wake Forest. They were close again with Virginia Tech and Navy.
This has the potential to be a heavy run game for Notre Dame. Between Williams and Jafar Armstrong, the Irish could find a lot of success. Not only around the goal line, but deep in downs.
It hasn’t been a secret that Kelly is comfortable going for it on close fourth down situations. It was something that FSU struggled with against North Carolina State and it could be what keeps a lot of drives alive for Notre Dame this week.
On top of what could be a big rushing game for the Irish, their quarterback is only getting better. The Northwestern outing was the least accurate game of Book’s season at 64.7 percent – still good enough for most teams.
Even with that, Book his coming off of career games the last two times out. Throwing for 330-yards versus Navy and 343-yards against Northwestern – Book is locked in.
He was also able to get the speedster Michael Young into the game last week, something that can also open up the run game. Young is also a great compliment to the Book/Miles Boykin connection.
The Irish could find a lot of success in the air against a secondary that’s allowed 23 passing touchdowns this season. Florida State is the second opponent that we could see Notre Dame dropping over 50-points on this season.
